FOR HORSES,DOGS AND CATS
As a qualified Myofunctional therapist (remedial masseur for horses, dogs and cats), the benefits of remedial massage are enormous. It relieves stress, strain and knots which cause pain in the muscles. It improves the circulation throughout the body, thereby speeding up healing and getting rid of the build up of lactic acid which changes to the PH balance in the cell thereby causing pain.
Massage is not just a case of rubbing hands on the animal–it’s a combination of knowledge and different techniques and pressures applied to different parts of the body to remedy the problem. To demonstrate this, a ridgeback pup was brought to me where it walked on its front carpal joints and not on his paws, with the front part of his body stooping . It took me a whole six weeks of remedial massage working particularly on the muscles ,ligaments and Tendons of his fore legs, back and body to remedy it—and as you can see today he is walking on 4 paws not 2 and relatively straight.
When I work on an animal eg. a cow at a booking, I work the whole area not just the part that is sore. Working on the sore or knotted muscle, you can only work till their body tells you its enough for the day. Much as I would like to remedy the problem in one massage, this is not possible, as the muscle rebels. Therefore, it takes a few massages to straighten out the knots and to relieve the stress and strain
Remedial massage is not only good for the muscles, but also tendons, ligaments, and around areas such as the back, neck, legs and gluteal areas just to mention a few. Massage is good for any animal young or old, hurt or not.
Massage stimulates the body’s own defence system by releasing endorphins, which help not only with the healing, but also gives the animals a general feeling of well being. Remedial massage is also a natural sedative and relaxing and what could be better for your beloved animal than treatment without medication. See what my clients have to say. |
